I kept wondering about Linda's thesis and how it got derailed.

I find it amazing that she didn't just post it before running off to fight other battels.

Was one reason to go to Irving to get the camera?

Yes, Colin, that could have been one reason. It certainly wasn't for any damned curtain rods!

I think the main reason was that he went home to Irving every night.

We have no proof of such a thing but the idea has always seemed more logical to my mind and I am happy to see Mick putting together a really good case for it.

So, the camera WAS found in the Paine's garage... by Robert Oswald!

Man, this shit is way too weird for fiction! No one would believe it.

The full story is that LHO owned it before going into the Marines, used it in the marines, then left it with Robert before taking off to the SU -- where, now camer-less - he had to buy a Russian camera,

On coming home, Robert returned the Imperial to Lee and Lee got Marina to take somewhere between 1 and 1,458 photos of it with Lee in various mock revolutionary poses.

It was then left in the Paine  Magic Cave aka garage for Det McCabe to find on Nov 23.... only for it to sneak back to the Magic Cave aka garage to be refound by Robert in December.* Robert, being the good citizen he was, handed the camera over to the authorities... on Feb 24, 1964 where the FBI found it not to be in working order.

This Imperial Reflex came out in 1954 at which time it retailed  for between $5.95 and $12.95. It does have strap and flash with it, But even at the lower end, $5.95 in 1954 is equal to about $52.00 today.  Surely beyond the means of young Lee, unless it was a giveaway at a bank for new account holders, or something along those lines...

The authorities, with help from certain people, put ownership in Lee's hands because it was the camera used to create the BYP.

*McCabe claimed on Jan 30 that he found a square grey metal camera in the Paine garage belonging to Oswald and Marina during the search of 11/23 and that he found another camera and camera equiipment in a box in the living room which "clearly' belonged to Mrs Paine and therefore was not taken. http://jfkresearch.freehomepage.com/mccabe.htm The inference is that the camera from the garage was indeed taken as evidence. The description is unmistakably that of the IR even though it was made of plastic, not metal.

Yet on March 23, McCabe was now saying that he found a camera in a box, that he placed it on a dresser while he searched the contents of the box, and then finally, put the camera back after deciding it was not in working order. The "dresser" indicates that this took place in Marina's bedroom. McCabe further stated that he did not show it to anyone nor tell anyone. So it has moved from the garage to the bedroom, from not in anything, to in a box, and from taken as evidence to left in place only to be "found" again by Robert on Feb 16. By one of those beautiful concidences we all know amd love, it was just 2 days after that, that Marina was miraculously,  for the very first time, able to describe the camera she allegedly used to take the Back Yard Photo/s. Good ol' Robert than handed it in on Feb 24.

Granted the canera matter is fishy like many other items that grew in Ruth's garage, BUT that doesn't mean that the PM is holding one, he could fwiw be putting a ship in a bottle..........

The bottom line for me is that I always had doubts that he ever owned the camera. When Linda did her analyis, it gave me pause for thought - but now I think it's possible she mistook what we now now is part of the heater as one of his hands - so I'm back to having doubts about that camera again. Doesn't mean he didn't have his Russian camera (or even a Minox which he'd carried in his pocket all day, therefore not noticed by anyone?)

As far as I'm concerned, that white blob/disc shape is something. It is being held. It moves position. It is always present. There are frames where it is central to the body and just under the head of PM as the motorcade passes. There is definitely a flash of some sort in that alcove in one of the movies - - I think Towner. The main reservation I have that it may be the Imperial Reflex is that that particluar camera had its flash inserted into the side and in the pertinent frames of film, it looks like the flash is on the top and the only reason it would exist in this orientation is if Oswald was taking a landscape photograph.

The key thing to remember here, and I'm working from memory but will fill in the details later, is that the Imperial Reflex should have come with a flash bulb attachment. On the inventory no Imperial Reflex flash bulb attachment was ever listed. However, a flash bulb attachment for a DIFFERENT camera was listed...

...but NO CAMERA.

I think the Imperial Reflex might be blindsiding us to the fact that it was a different camera that Oswald owned. Who knows?

But one thing is for certain, IMO, is that PM is holding something, that something has some dimension to it. It is not, IMO, a bottle. And it is not part of the radiator.

It's okay, Lee. I'm constantly about 2 pages behind the argument lately. :D

For what it's worth, the camera hypothesis makes a lot of sense to me.

Lee, just for interests sake, the Imperial Reflex camera took 3 1/2 " x 3 1/2'  photos, so there would be no need to have it in  landscape mode.

Is there any evidence, other than that of the Paines,  that the Reflex actually belonged to Oswald?

Who is this?

...and I'd tentatively bet my left one that the guy I've highlighted above is Billy Lovelady.

Better frame of person I think is Lovelady.  Stood directly in front of PM

I'm ready to bet my right tezzy that the bald headed guy in front of our Prayer Man is Billy Nolan Lovelady.  If I'm right, and a new scan of the original film will definitely solve this, then the two blokes walking toward the parking lot are not Lovelady & Shelley.

Interesting schematic reconstruction of the Doorway showing the different heights of two characters, by Jim Hawthron, which looks very interesting.

Thanks, Ray. And Jim H.

Proves that one does not have to rely on Mytton's or Hubble's red-shift to see the case from another angle.

And he didn't even have to utilize a single footnote to do it!!!!!!

Nice spot, Lee. I agree it does look incredibly like Lovelady.

So, remember when Gary Mack said they have a 4K scan of the Tina Towner film in the possession of the 6FM?  Mack claimed that they had checked every single HD frame that contains the doorway of the TSBD and each one was worthless because of motion blur?

So I've just gone and checked the frames, one by one, of the Towner film frames containing the TSBD entrance as it was presented on the National Geographic JFK special called The Lost Bullet.  Here, for your perusal, is one of those frames.  Should I book an optician appointment with Lord Gordon of Pringle or is there something extremely dodgy about what I am actually seeing?

Lee,

Are you talking about the "shadow" overlay on the TSBD vestibule? Or is it my eyes that need the check-up?

Mighty dodgy (and sloppy) work.

Yes, I can see that someone has given her a face job and traces of the splice can be seen above.

I was not sure if that was an artifact of the film and/or processing but it certainly looks like someone has attempted darkening the vestibule area as well. But, then, that could just be my eyes.

If someone's cut off Jackie's nose to spite their own face, then there's mischief afoot. And I don't think it can be blamed on "motion blur".
