Is this alternative spelling used frequently in the U.S.? Then and now?

When I come across that spelling, I consider it a typo.

So probably sent on a newswire with that error and then copied that way by all the newspapers who printed it.

Makes sense.

In the 'no shots from the TSBD' thread I lay out my speculation that a theoretical headshot towards Houston before or at the turn from the snipers nest in the TSBD was considered. If it had been taken it surely would have been the first shot. In that case could a delay have messed up a plan that Oswald would be at least inside the building and some floors above the entrace at the time of the first shot?

Oswald appears to have arrived late, as did Frasier and his boss. Was this late arrival by design and originally intended so make sure Oswald was not outside when a TSBD shot was fired.  Oswald's boss was clearly the best placed person to control Oswald's movements.  Where was Oswald at the point in time when the motorcade was originally due to pass the TSBD? If i was a member of the TSBD staff in on the LHO framing I would have sent him upstairs at lease a couple of flights at the last minute before the motorcade was due to pass then headed outside without him. Now if the motorcade was unexpectly delayed this may have backfired when Oswald appeared just as the motorcade arrived.

So two things may have made a neat framing more messy. Firstly the delay meant he was outside not upstairs somewhere when the motorcade passed.  Secondly (and this is not actually required for this scenario) a shot from the nest down Houston just before the turn might not have been possible to execute.

At least in this scenario the original plan to frame Oswald had some sense to it on paper and would have been effective if it had been executed without problems.   I find it awful hard to believe if Oswald's boss was in on it that he wouldnt have done just what I suggested - sent him upstairs at the last minute before the motorcade was due and then gone outside.

So I was casting about searching for an image that would illustrate the kind of phenomenon that we see in the Darnell image of PM/Oswald as he stands in front of the glass entryway. I found this. What's clear here is the difference between the figure and his reflection. In Darnell it gets muddled together and that's how we end up perceiving the cartoonish figure with Popeye's arms. Note the bright spot on the side of his head in the reflection. This is the kind of thing that gets reflected off the back side of PM/Oswald's left arm in Darnell, with his sleeves rolled up, and with his arms crossed. It really makes total sense out of the Darnell image when one looks at it this way. It is something that a ridiculous number of people simply do not want to see, but there is really no denying it.

Even the camera angle is close. Note how with the camera low, the top of the reflected head is lower compared to the top of the figure's head, Just like you can see in Darnell, again referring to the back of PM/Oswald's left arm.

If the guy only had his arms crossed and his sleeves rolled up, it would be so obvious that we wouldn't even need a clean scan of the Darnell film.  :)

I agree, Jake.

Of course, we can always take it the other way and fuzzy the image instead of going with a clean scan of the film:

Hmm. Now that starts to look familiar.

How did you manage to turn that guy into a woman, Jake?  Buttons, handbags and hairspary everywhere in this version you've posted.  I can even see lipstick and mascara.  If I keep staring at it for the rest of the afternoon I bet I could begin to see breasts and a womb.

That's great, Hasan. I missed that on my first inspection.

Just a technical note, the added distortion is called "motion blur". As in camera moving while shot taken; a la Darnell.

It is amazing how it turned him into a woman though!  :)

Jake,

How tall would you say the motion blurred woman is in your photo?

My calculations are telling me she is between 1 foot 1 inch and 2 foot 3 inches in height.  I have used the very large china teacup she is holding in her right hand, just above her handbag and right breast, as my initial point of reference and I have then applied Drew Phipps patented pixel-counting, hand-cranked flab-flub machine to work out the rest.

Lee,

I'll need to let you know upon consideration of a move to Memphis. Please stand by.

Ok, accounting for the flange coefficient, I have similar results but wearing high heels. (Her, not someone else who shall remain nameless, of course.)

Jake, do you have her phone number? I am sure she is making eyes at me or maybe its just my cider goggles.

Paul,

You'd better take it easy here. Can't you see the wedding ring she's wearing?

(at least ten carats from what I can tell - in an oval setting, I believe)
