A Moment's Living Shines

A small light, pinpoint pure in racing flight,

steals our attention a precious moment

before shrinking into the deep of black;

a moment's passing, another screams "me!",

following close on fortune's heels

bestride the universal coxwain course

measuring direction, scoffing perfection's

surest bastions' brightness, to steal

into memory's coffins-lined close.

Before the glowing tracement fades,

another emerges, directly coursed

to plunder hearts' most valued grasp

before oblivionated as previous crowed.

Metrics deep, spirits alive, in rhythm

to such palest bliss, to lead us on

by knotted throats, notes so pure:

a bolt from bluest heaven cuts so deep;

wound cloven thankfully, souls empty poured

into the swirling coalescence flow.

Each one's short time of earthly stain

rises for but a brief fortune's kiss

to heights of immortal grandeur,

like Bradbury's falling astronaut

becomes some shooting star...

our Mother's Mother beckons us

each to make a wish: a reason

for each life to matter.

If it's ok with you Terry, I'll consider this a birthday gift. It really resonates today particularly. Not only that but it is beautiful. Thank you.

What other forum has it's own Poet Laureate?

Thanks. Counter question: what other forum deserves such?

None in this field, my friend.
